Prime Minister Calls for Political Culture that Transcends Constituency

Addis Ababa February 02/2019 The political culture of Ethiopia has not yet transcended to persuading others beyond the limits of one’s constituency, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated today.

In his presentation to the forum underway in the presence of competing political parties, he emphasized that the way forward to nurture a meaningful democracy is to work in an integrated manner across political lines.

According to one of the participants, Semayawi Party Chairperson Yeshiwas Assefa the forum is organized with a key objective of nurturing the peaceful exchange of political thoughts in this period of political transition.

More papers are expected to be presented by the leadership of four political parties, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.

Such an historical discussion platform is unique to Ethiopia’s political history and narrative, it added.

Prime Minister Abiy hosted the initial meeting a few months ago.
