PM Abiy Exchanges Views with George Soros

Addis Ababa January 22/0/2019 Premier Abiy held talk with Head of the Open Society Foundations, George Soros in Davos, Swizerland today.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on electoral integrity, challenges of democratization, access to justice, economic inclusion, institutional and regulatory reforms.

Soros supports Ethiopia’s ongoing reforms in enabling civil societies and enacting a progressive refugee law, according to Office of the Prime Minister.

Soros is a renowned backer of progressive and liberal political causes, to which he dispenses donations through his agency, the Open Society Foundations.

As of February 2018, Soros had a net worth of 8 billion USD, having donated more than 32 billion USD to his philanthropic Foundations.

PM Abiy Ahmed also convened an Investment Strategy Dialogue with selected CEOs of multinational corporations to identify opportunities for private investment.

The discussion showcased untapped investment opportunities and policy priorities in Ethiopia.

Earlier this morning on the sidelines of World Economic Forum which is being held in Davos, Abiy met with Mohammed Al Shaibani, CEO of Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), it was learned.
