Ethiopian Delegation Visits Headquarter of Alibaba Group in Beijing

Addis Ababa (ENA) February 28/2023 Ethiopian Delegation led by Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, visited the Headquarter of Alibaba Group in Beijing.

On the occasion, the minister had a meeting with the Vice President of Alibaba Group, Liu Nan.

The Delegation visited the Exhibition Hall on the history, development and future projection of Alibaba, according to ministry of Finance.

The delegation has also held a fruitful discussion with the Alibaba leadership on the future cooperation between Ethiopia and the group on e-commerce and digital economy.

Alibaba Group was established in 1999 by 18 people led by Jack Ma, a former English teacher from Hangzhou, China.

Since launching its first website helping small and medium-sized enterprises in China to sell internationally, Alibaba Group has grown into a digital ecosystem with businesses comprising China commerce, international commerce, local consumer services, digital media and entertainment, innovation initiatives and others.
