Nat’l Joint Council Agrees to Revise Bylaw, Admits New Member Parties

Addis Ababa  October 09/2018 The Joint Council of National Political Parties has agreed today to change its bylaw in order to meet the current political dynamism in the country. Amending or formulating a new bylaw will be helpful to make the council inclusive and exercise its role, according to the council members. The council emphasized the timeliness and importance of taking structural and organizational reforms amid the continuing reforms which is changing the political landscape in the country. They have specifically agreed to submit written proposals on the areas of the council’s bylaw that may need amendment or omission within a fortnight. The council has also appreciated the government’s move to widen the political space in the country. In related news, the Joint Council of National Political Parties has also accepted the membership request of two political parties. With the joining of All Amhara People’s Organization (AAPO) and Ethiopia National Unity Congress (ENUC), members of the council rose to 16.
