HPR Downsizes Standing Committees by Half, 175 Mn USD Loan Agreement

Addis Ababa November 06/2018 The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) has approved the downsizing of standing committees from 20 to 10 today. On its 6th ordinary session, the House, which had one special and 20 standing committee, decided to cut the number of standing committees by half and eliminate the special committee. Each standing committee has 20 to 45 members depending on the activities of the committee, it was learned. The HPR ordinary session has also approved a draft 175 million USD loan agreement between the government of Ethiopia and the International Development Association. The loan will be utilized to complete Bole Lemi II and Kilinto industrial parks so as to attract foreign investors and boost competitiveness. The loan is going to be paid in 38 years.
