Foreign Minister Workneh Leaves for Italy

Addis Ababa October 24/2018 Foreign Minister Workneh Gebeyehu has left for Italy today to participate in the second Italy-Africa cooperation ministerial conference from 25-26, 2018.  The Foreign Minister will also discuss with Italy’s high officials on bilateral and regional issues on the sidelines of the conference, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson indicated. The two-day Italy-Africa cooperation ministerial conference will discuss on current status of Italy-Africa economic and political relations and directions, it was learned. The conference focuses on ways of sustaining the 5 percent economic growth in Africa and strengthening supports from Italy and other development partners in trade, investment and other economic cooperation. The conference will also focus on global, continental and regional peace and security agenda as well as cooperating for migration issues and solutions. Moreover, the ministerial conference will deliberate on peace and security improvement in the Horn of Africa on the top of the recent peace accord reached between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Italian Prime Minister and Foreign Ministers, 45 African Foreign Ministers and higher officials, as well as over 13 international organizations including EU, AU and UN high officials, in total more than 350 delegates are expected to attend the conference.
