Addis Ababa November 10/2021 (ENA) A campaign to hold the terrorist TPLF accountable for the heinous ethnic-based Maikadra Massacre at the International Criminal Court should be launched soon, according to Gondar City Administration.

A candlelight vigil was held yesterday evening for victims of the Maikadra Massacre in  commemoration of the first year  of the massacre.

Gondar City Council Speaker, Tsegaw Ezezew said during the occasion that the act was a well planned ethnic-based massacre which emanated from the hatred of the terrorist TPLF towards the people of Amhara.

The TPLF enterprise should be taken to the International Criminal Court and charged for the gravest crime they committed,  the speaker said, adding that the members of the council call for the justice to prevail.

City Council Member Girmay Lijalem said on his part that there has not been any other group in the history of Ethiopia that has committed genocide other than the terrorist TPLF.

Not satisfied with the Maikadra Massacre, the terrorist group has been committing similar atrocities in North Gondar, Afar, Wollo, and South Gondar, he added.

Girmay noted that efforts have to be intensified in a coordinated and organized manner in order to hold the terrorist group accountable for the heinous massacre on innocent people at the International Criminal Court.

According to a study conducted by Gondar University, a total of 1,563 innocent Amharas were massacred by the terrorist group and 81 people survived with lifelong disabilities.
