UN Chief Welcomes Djibouti Agreement between Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia

Addis Ababa September 09/2018 The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres has welcomed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia on September 6, 2018 in Djibouti, according to UN news center. “The agreement reached among the four Ministers to work together to restore peace and stability in the region is a positive example for the Horn and beyond,” the UN chief stressed. Furthermore, the Secretary-General reiterated the readiness of the United Nations to support countries in the Horn of Africa region in consolidating the recent remarkable gains. It is to be recalled that following the signing of the Joint Declaration Agreement on Comprehensive Cooperation by leaders of Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea, Foreign Ministers of the three countries arrived in Djibouti and resolve the ten-year old dispute between Eritrea and Djibouti through peaceful dialogue and negotiation.
