Ethiopia, South Korea Hold Webinar on Trade

April 9/2021(ENA) The Ethiopian and South Korean Trade Forum held on Thursday virtually with a view to strengthen trade ties between the two countries.

Speaking at the forum, Ethiopian Ambassador to South Korea, Shiferaw Shigute said despite the impact of COVID-19, Ethiopia has been making encouraging economic performances.  

The trade forum demonstrates the commitment of the two countries to enhance their bilateral cooperation in Trade, he added.

Trade and Industry State Minister Misganu Arega on his part said Ethiopia and Korea have strong diplomatic and economic ties.

Noting several Korean investors have now been working in Ethiopia in various economic sectors, the State Minister urged other Korean companies to invest in the country as they would be profitable.

Representatives of the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX), the Ethiopian Grains, Oilseeds and Spices Exporters Association and Ethiopian Coffee Exporters briefed the participants about the investment opportunities in Ethiopia.

In his closing remarks, Agriculture State Minister, Wondale Habtamu also told the participants about the investment opportunities in the agricultural sector and called on Korean companies to import Ethiopian organic agricultural products into the Korean market.

The Forum has brought together more than 67 companies of which 33 were from South Korean.
