South Korea Provides 30 Mil USD worth of Medical Equipment to Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, April 2/2021/ENA/   The government of South Korea has provided on Friday 30 million USD worth of medical equipment to Ethiopia in the form of a concessional loan.

The COVID-19 medical equipments are provided through the Korean government’s aid program, the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

The equipment was handed over to Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadese by South Korean Ambassador to Ethiopia, Kang Seok-hee in a ceremony held at the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Agency.  

The equipment includes Ventilation for COVID-19 intensive care patients, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, COVID-19 test kits and other medical supplies.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister appreciated the support for it is critical for COVID-19 patients and will help to enhance the treatment, adding that it is a great support to the ongoing efforts to tackle the pandemic.

Korean Ambassador to Ethiopia, Kang Seok-hee on his part said his government has been providing a lot of support to Ethiopia since the outbreak of the COVID-19.

According to him, this latest support will strengthen the existing friendship between Ethiopia and Korea.

It will also promote community health and help to prevent the spread of the virus in Ethiopia, he added.
