Addis Ababa March 17/2021(ENA) The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said the election process is going well and it has managed to solve most of the complaints raised by the political parties.

The Board announced at the conclusion of its half-day meeting held today with political parties to assess the candidate registration and election campaign processes.

NEBE Chairperson Birtukan Mideksa said the board introduced a problem solving mechanism to receive complaints and give solutions to political parties.

The parities submitted about 670 complaints to the Board with regard to candidate registration and election campaign and managed to solve over 500 of those, it was learned.

She said among the complaints were arrest of candidates and the transfer of candidates without the knowledge of their parties.

The board has managed to solve the problems by discussing them with the concerned bodies and the process was accountable, the chairperson stated.

Representatives of the parities that attended the meeting said the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia was prompt in responding to most of the complaints.

The Board had prepared free call center and digital center to receive complaints from the political parties in addition to bringing their complaints in person, Birtukan noted.

The chairperson also announced a discussion next week to finalize the media debate draft she presented today to the representatives.

According to her, 10 media houses are selected to host debates that will be transmitted in four languages.
