Japan Extends Gratitude to Ethiopian for Solidarity During 2011 Tsunami

Addis Ababa March 11/2021(ENA) Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ito Takako has extended her gratitude to the people of Ethiopia for standing with the people of Japan during the 2011 great Tsunami in Japan.


Speaking at the tenth year commemoration of the day with all chairpersons of Standing Committees of the House of People's Representative, including the Ethio-Japan Friendship Committee, Ambassador Takako extended her gratitude to the people of Ethiopia for standing with the people of Japan at that time.

She explained that the people and government of Ethiopia have expressed their friendship for Japan by extending heartfelt grief and contributing 5.4 million Birr during the time.

The ambassador added that Ethiopia and Japan will remain true friends in all times.

Foreign Relation and Peace Affairs Standing Committee chairman, Negeri Lencho said the support of Ethiopia during the Tsunami incident is one of the examples that shows the friendly tie between two countries.  

There are also many other areas that the two countries have shown their togetherness.

The 10 years anniversary of the horrifying incident that hit the eastern part of Japan caused the death of 19,000 people.
