Former PM Hailemariam to Lead AU Election Observation Mission to Zimbabwe

Addis Ababa July 12/2018 Former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn is selected to lead the African Union Election Observation Mission to Zimbabwe, according to internal source from AU. The government of Zimbabwe has invited a few months ago observers from the African Union, European Union and United Nations. Accordingly, the African Union will send two observer groups, out of which one will be led by former Prime Minister Hailemariam. He was selected due to his participation in bringing peace and stability to the continent. Hailemariam will depart to Harare after 10 days, it was learned. The former Prime Minister has been nominated for also participating in building democracy and taking part in international and continental organizations. Among them, Hailemariam Desalegn has served as the Chair of AU Peace and Security Council and NEPAD.
