House Approves 346.9 bln Birr Budget for Coming Fiscal Year

Addis Ababa July 06/2018 The House of People’s Representative today approved the 346.9 billion Birr budget proposed by the government for the coming Ethiopian fiscal year. Some 64 percent of the total budget allocated for 2011 fiscal year, is allotted for poverty reduction programs. Some 91.6 billion Birr or 26.4 percent of the budget is allocated for regular expenditures while 113.63 billion Birr is slated for capital expenses. Of the total budget, 135.6 billion Birr is allocated to subsidize regional governments. The budget exceeds the current year’s budget by 26.1 billion Birr. The country’s budget for 2010 fiscal year was 320.8 billion Birr.
