Nation Reports 5 Deaths, 164 New COVID-19 Cases

Addis Ababa,June 11/2020(ENA) Ministry of Health reported today 5 deaths and 164 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total tally of infections to 2,670.
In its daily update, the ministry stated that the confirmed cases are reported out of the 6,630 samples analyzed over the last 24 hours.

It also reported 5 new fatalities from COVID-19, taking the total death toll in the country to 40.

Of the new COVID-19 infected persons, 163 are Ethiopians and one a foreign national. The  117 males and 47 females are between 1 and 92 years old.

Among the new infections, 104 are from the capital city, 26 from Somali, 22 from Amhara, 4 from Tigray, 4 from SNNPR, 2 from Oromia, and one each from Harari and Benishangul-Gumz regional states.

Meanwhile, 33 patients have recovered from the virus, raising the overall number of recoveries to 434.

Currently, there are 2,194 patients in the COVID-19 treatment centers across the country, with 32 patients in severe conditions.

Some 2,420 persons have tested positive during the past one month, showing a tenfold increase to the number of cases reported in the first two months.  

A total of 165,151 tests have been conducted to date with 2,670 confirmed cases, 434 recoveries , and 40 fatalities.
