Ethiopia Confirms Four More COVID-19 Cases

Addis Ababa, March 27/2020( ENA)The Minister of Health disclosed today four more individuals were tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number to 16 since the first case was confirmed on March 12, 2020.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, three of the confirmed cases are Ethiopian nationals aged 61, 28 and 24.

The 24 year-old female Ethiopian has no travel history from abroad while the 28 year-old woman Ethiopian has a travel history to Israel on March 21st, the statement revealed.

One of the two victim is from Adama town,  Oromia Regional State.

The fourth confirmed case is a 72 year-old Mauritanian man, who resides in Addis Ababa with a travel history from Congo-Brazzaville on March 14, 2020.

The patients are under medical treatment in the designated cure center.

Ethiopia has intensified its preventative measures to contain the spread of coronavirus including expanding COVID-19 laboratories, banning on large gatherings, suspending school and sport events as well as flights.
