Deputy PM Calls for Full Implementation of Decisions Passed on COVED-19

Addis Ababa , March 25/2020(ENA) Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonen said all decisions passed by the government should be fully implemented to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and contain it. 

The national disaster risk management and response taskforce led by the deputy prime minister held discussion today with COVID-19 health technical committee about ways of executing the government directions.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Demeke noted that all government institutions have to consolidate the effort at all structural levels to implement the decisions against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“We need to evidently realize that we are now at a critical juncture in the history of our country. And  we should swiftly reinforce a strategic endeavor in all part of the country to save our people and the beloved country,” he added.  

According to him, the government has also to ensure the full implementation of the decisions that would help the national effort bring meaningful results in this regard.

This national taskforce and the technical committee would give management support and strong monitoring to the effectiveness of the national mission, the deputy premier pointed out.

The measures taken at federal level would be implemented in a consistent manner in all regions and in the two city administrations to curb and prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country, he stressed.

Demeke further emphasized the need for strict leadership to ensure the full implementation of the government's decisions regarding the coronavirus pandemic and the implementation of the measures it takes.

Recalling the government's successful responses to difficult natural disasters in the past, he stated that effective experiences will be implemented in the national context.

Finally, the deputy prime minister urged the public to protect themselves from the pandemic  by following the safety measures recommended by health professionals to prevent the disease.
