The Victory of Adwa Unveils Ethiopia’s Unity in Diversity to World: PM Abiy

ENA,March 2/2020 The victory of Adwa is the manifestation of the historic moment of Ethiopians to show the rest of the world their sturdy unity in diversity, said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Premier Abiy delivered a message to Ethiopians on the commemoration of the 124^th Victory of Adwa.

On his message, Prime Minister Abiy said at the battle of Ethiopians showed to the rest of the world that they were stubborn resistant in matters of national sovereignty and refusal to accept defeat for freedom despite being diversified societies.  

The victory of Adwa is a perpetual witness for Ethiopians in time of dare, he noted, adding that sovereignty never negotiated in the face of Ethiopia’s unison.

Citing the wisdom of Emperor Menelik II, Abiy said the Emperor had sufficient and wise preparation which could balance the challenges they faced during the time. The emperor mobilized the general public in excess of the capacity of Italia`s military mobilization.

“Civilization means being greater than future challenges”, he said, adding the Adwa operation was not only the operation of war against Italian invaders; it was rather the operation of technology, diplomacy, politics, logistic, and the operation of love and forgiveness.

Victory of Adwa is a national holiday in Ethiopia commemorated on March 2^nd. The day honored as Ethiopia's victory over Italian aggressors in 1896, securing Ethiopian sovereignty.
