Federal Police Commission Embarking Deep Institutional Reforms

Addis Ababa February 21/2019The Federal Police Commission said it has embarked on deep institutional reforms to sustain peace and stability across the country.

The police commission has now organized the Special Force, Air Wings and drones in order to deter any threat and conduct surveillance in urban areas, it was indicated.

Endeshaw Tasew, Commissioner General of Federal Police Commission briefed journalists today reforming Ethiopian Federal Police Commission has came to the spotlight following the political reforms in the country.

According to Commissioner General, since the reform has had constitutional feature and full public support, the commission has been making institutional adjustment to safeguard the reform to be reached on the sought stage.

Noting that the feature of crimes that committed in different times and places are getting intricate web, the commissioner said and adding that “prevention and investigation of crime could not be resolved in traditional approaches.”

In this regard, the commission has emphasized on some major institutional reforms including manpower, modern technology employment, strengthening logistic, expanding association with stakeholders and among other areas.

Based on the reform, deployment and structure of federal police have been revised and divided in four clusters namely north, south, west, and central clusters, he pointed out.
