Addis Ababa February21/2019 Ethiopia and Uruguay signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, on political consultation, in a bid to advance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Foreign Minister, Workneh Gebeyehu and his Uruguayan counterpart Rodolfo Nin Novoa have signed the MoU, Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
On the occasion, Workneh said Ethiopia is keen to enhance its bilateral ties and cooperation with Uruguay in areas of agriculture, especially beef and dairy farming among others.
Ethiopia is interested to draw lessons from Uruguay’s successful experience in agriculture, Workneh said.
Uruguayan Foreign Minister, Rodolfo applauded Ethiopia’s political and economic reforms, Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated.
The Foreign Minister lauded Ethiopia’s commitment to the principles of South- South Cooperation striving to work closely both in bilateral, regional and international areas of common concern, including promotion of peace and security, the fight against terrorism and tackling climate change.
Uruguay opened honorary consulate in Ethiopia in April 2015.
