Over 100 Appear in Court for Alleged Involvement in Conflict around Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa September 21/2018 More than 100 persons suspected of involvement in the recent Burayu and surroundings conflict were brought to court during the past two days, police said.

Burayu Police Department Investigation Coordinator, Commander Bekana Mideksa told ENA that police have detained 394 suspects for alleged involvement in the conflict.

Of these, more than 100 were brought to court yesterday and today, he added.

The suspects are charged with killing, looting and engaging in ethnic conflict as well as armed robbery.

Police requested the court for additional 14 days and was allowed to undertake the investigation, the commander stated.

Joint efforts are underway to organize information about the crime through the collaboration of the federal police, regional police, and the security, it was learned.
